A person was found dead with a gunshot wound in the forest area near Nonabur in Tirthahalli taluk on Saturday afternoon. He has been identified as Kantharaj, 40.
It is suspected that he died due to accidental firing when he had gone hunting with his friends. Many people in Malnad districts go to forests to capture wild boars. Kantharaj had been to the forest with 12 of his friends on the day.
Tirthahalli Police said that it was not clear how he died as none of his accomplices had been found so far. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
The police have registered a case.
