Man found dead in car discovered crashed off road is named as 39-year-old John Cull

A man who died in a crash in Caerphilly has been named as police continue to appeal for information surrounding the collision on the A472.

John Cull, aged 39, from Pontypool, was driving a black Vauxhall Corsa which left the road between Nelson and Ystrad Mynach.

Police said they received a call at 1.50am on Wednesday, February 3, alerting them to there being a vehicle off the road.

Mr Cull was later declared dead at the scene.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said: “His family continue to be supported by specialist officers and wish to be left alone to grieve at this difficult time.

“We are continuing to investigate the single-vehicle collision which we believe took place at around 9.15pm the previous night, Tuesday, February 2.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with officers is urged to get in contact.

“Any motorists with dash-cam footage of the area at the time of the collision is also asked to come forward”.
