Man found dead in abandoned sweet shop as police probe 'unexplained' circumstances

The body of a man whose death is currently a mystery was found in an abandoned sweet shop.

Police were called to the empty property in Llangefni in North Wales this morning after the body was found.

The area was taped off while Criminal Investigations Department and forensic officers made inquiries, The Daily Post reported.

Earlier a North Wales Police (NWP) spokesman said: "The body of a man was discovered this morning at an abandoned property on Chapel Street, Llangefni.

"CID and Scientific Support Unit staff are currently assisting local officers. No further details are available at this time."

The force later confirmed that the death was 'unexplained'.

Det Sgt Richard Griffith said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone entering the building in the last week to contact us on 101 or via  live webchat  quoting ref Y004243."

With a population of around 5,000 people Llangefni is the second largest settlement on Anglesey island.

It has one of the populations with the highest proportion of Welsh speakers in the country, with 80% of people speaking the language as of the 2011 consensus.
