Man found dead at scene of house fire in Colwyn Bay

An investigation is under way after a man’s body was found at the scene of a house fire on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to a property in Greenfield Road, Colwyn Bay, shortly after 10.15am.

Police officers and a rapid response vehicle from the Welsh Ambulance Service were also called to the scene as the road was cordoned off to members of the public.

It has been confirmed that a man was found dead inside the property. His name has not been released but the fire service has confirmed he was 52 years old.

A spokesman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, who have launched a joint investigation along with North Wales Police into the cause of the blaze, said: “A man has died following a house fire in Colwyn Bay. We were called to a report of the fire at a property in Greenfield Road, Colwyn Bay at 10.17am on Tuesday, January 7.

"Appliances from Colwyn Bay, Abergele, and Llandudno were mobilised to the incident. Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

"The body of a 52-year-old man was found inside the property by firefighters. The cause of the fire will be the subject of a joint investigation by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.”
