Man found dead at home was 'kind' and 'generous' as son charged with murder

The family of a man found dead at home have paid tribute to him on his 80th birthday.

Anthony Lavender, also known as Tony, was found collapsed with a head injury at an address on Woodhall Road in Old Swan on Wednesday, December, 2021.

CPR was performed and paramedics from North West Ambulance Service attended but Tony was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Tony's son David Lavender, 37, has now been charged with his murder and has been remanded in custody.

The 80-year-old would have been celebrating his birthday today (January 5).

His family have now paid tribute to Tony describing him as a "kind" and "generous" man.

They said: “Tony, our beloved brother and uncle, should have celebrated his 80th birthday today, but tragically, it was not to be.

“Tony was a kind and generous man who lived his life to the full and will be missed by all those who knew him.

“As a family, we would like to extend our thanks to the officers and paramedics who tried to save Tony, and to say thank you to his friends and neighbours for their beautiful words and the floral tributes left for him.

“We will make sure that Tony is not forgotten.”

Anthony’s family have asked for privacy as they grieve for their loss.

David Lavender appeared before a judge at Sefton Magistrates Court this morning and spoke only to confirm his date of birth and address.

District Judge Wendy Lloyd immediately sent the case to Liverpool Crown Court and ordered Lavender be remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at the crown court later this week.
