Man found dead at Edinburgh beauty spot after police and ambulance crews race to the scene

The body of a man has been found on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to Salisbury Crags at around 10.20am on Tuesday after the alarm was raised. 

The area was closed off while police and paramedics dealt with the tragic incident as several response vehicles were pictured at the popular beauty spot.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the scene.

Police Scotland have now confirmed that a body has been recovered and their enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death remain ongoing.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers in Edinburgh were called to Salisbury Crags around 10.20am on Tuesday, 17 November, after the body of a man was found in the area.

“The man was pronounced dead at the scene and enquiries are ongoing. Emergency services are currently in attendance.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.35am on Tuesday, November 17 to assist emergency service partners at an incident at Salisbury Crags, Edinburgh.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances and a rope rescue team to the scene."
