Man found dead at bottom of cliff hours after body found on beach 9 miles away

The bodies of two men have been discovered less than ten miles apart in the same area of south Wales.

Emergency services were called to Limeslade beach in the Gower peninsular following concerns about the welfare of an elderly male, at around 4.45pm on Monday.

A body of a man was subsequently recovered at Rams Tor, just west of the bay, Wales Online reports.

At around 8.45pm the same evening, police were alerted to the discovery of a male body at the bottom of cliffs in Port Eynon.

Neither incident is being treated as suspicious.

The incidents involved the police, Rhossili Coasguard rescue teams as well as the coastguard helicopter, The Welsh Ambulance Service including the air ambulance, and RNLI teams from Mumbles and Horton.

Mumbles Cricket Club was used as a base for helicopters, to ensure they could land and take off safely.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: “We were called to concerns for the welfare of an elderly male at Limeslade Beach.

"There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and the HM coroner has been informed.

“We were also called to reports of a male body being located at the bottom of cliffs in Port Eynon.

"Enquiries are ongoing but there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time and the HM Coroner has been informed.”
