Man found dead after taxi crashes into wall on rural Northumberland road near Haltwhistle

A taxi driver has died after crashing into a wall on a rural Northumberland road.

Shortly after 1.30pm on Tuesday, police were called to the Greensyke area of Haltwhistle where a taxi had collided with a wall.

The taxi had been travelling between the Clattering Causeway road and Plenmeller village in Northumberland at the time.

Officers and emergency services attended and found a man, believed to be in his 50s, dead at the scene.

The man has not been formally identified yet but his family are currently being informed.

They are also being supported by specialist officers.

An investigation is ongoing into the collision and police are eager to hear from anybody who witnessed what happened, or who was in the area at the time and might have dash cam footage.
