A man has been found dead following a major incident attended by armed police officers.
Officers were alerted to reports at an address the in Llwydcoed near Aberdare at 4.45pm on Sunday, January 30, with concerns regarding the welfare of a man believed to be in possession of a firearm.
Police attended the address along with other emergency services. Residents were told to stay inside, roads were closed in the area, and a heavy police presence remained overnight.

South Wales Police have now confirmed the body of a man was found inside the address at 11.45am on Monday, January 31.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and his family are being supported by specially-trained officers.
A police cordon remains in place at the location and the scene is being preserved.

Chief inspector Matthew Codd said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who was found deceased within the property and we are providing support to them at this difficult time.
“I would like to thank local residents for their understanding and cooperation throughout this incident.”
The matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
