Man found dead after fire breaks out at house in Cork city

A man has died following a fire in Cork city on Thursday afternoon.

The man, 70s, was found in the house in Ballyvolane after firefighters rushed to the scene.

A garda spokesperson told Cork Beo: "Gardaí attended the scene of a fire in Arderrow, Co. Cork which occurred in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 11th February 2021.

"A male, aged in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His body remains at the scene as Gardaí conduct a technical examination.

"Investigations are ongoing."

It is believed the fire was accidental.
