A man has been found dead today after his body was tragically discovered in the River Ayr.
Police confirmed they responded to reports of someone in the water near to Ayrshire College shortly before 11am.
Sadly, though, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said they are treating the death of the 54-year-old as unexplained but not suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a body in the River Ayr, near Ayrshire College, around 10.50am.
"We attended alongside the fire service, ambulance service and coastguard.
"A man was removed from the river and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing. The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious."
