Paramedics attended and carried out CPR but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene, near to the junction with Aigburth Road.

Police believed Gerard had been lying in the road when he was hit by the car, however officers are now investigating the crash.

A Home Office Post Mortem established the cause of death as injuries consistent with being struck by a car.

Mr Rogers’ next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers.

Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and officers continue to appeal for anyone with any information to come forward.

"Our enquiries continue and we would appeal for anyone who witnessed anything or who has any information to contact us.

"Similarly, if you were driving in the Ullet Road area on the evening of Saturday 25 September and have dashcam footage then please review it and if you see anything, let us know. However insignificant it may seem, your information could prove vital to our enquiries.
