Jan. 18--A man was found dead in a Downey residence following an apparent home-invasion robbery Sunday morning, police said.
The incident occurred in the 10300 block of Lesterford Avenue and led to the arrest of two suspects, said Sgt. Terry Goeckner of the Downey Police Department. A third suspect is believed to be at large, based on witness accounts.
About 11:15 a.m., police "responded to a possible residential robbery in progress," Goeckner said. "We got reports of suspects fleeing through the neighborhood on foot."
After officers apprehended the two suspects, they entered the residence from which the suspects had fled, and found a dead adult male, Goeckner said.
Police have not yet released information about the possible cause of death, but investigators are treating it as a homicide. Officials have not released the name of the victim or the identities of the suspects.
One person in the area told ABC7 that she saw three people approach the house and knock on the front door. A man answered, then was forced back inside by the intruders, she said.
Police say witnesses described the suspect at large as a male Asian or Pacific Islander with bushy hair in his early twenties, about 5 foot 8 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a button-down orange or red shirt, blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes, Goeckner said.
