A man was found shot to death Tuesday night in an apartment in the South Loop.
Police said the man was beaten but autopsy results released Thursday revealed that the man died of a gunshot wound to his face, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Officers responded to a battery call in the 2100 block of South Michigan Avenue about 9:20 p.m. and found the 56-year-old man with trauma to the left side of his head, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told officers they heard a struggle in the man’s apartment before the officers arrived, police said. His name hasn’t been released.
No arrests have been made.
