A man was airlifted to hospital after crews made a mercy dash to an Ayrshire housing estate at the weekend yesterday.
Medics touched down at a field near Kirkhill Crescent in Prestwick to support two ambulances who were dealing with an incident.
The man, described as being in his 50s, was flown to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after emergency services raced to the scene around 11.50am.
Footage has shown the moment the chopper takes off just minutes after the man was loaded in by crew members.
It was captured by a local resident who also noticed army troops were at the scene in place of paramedics.
The shocked eyewitness told Ayrshire Live: “I could see the helicopter sitting on the grass. There was an ambulance further down the road.

“The ambulance started to head off but stopped and returned and then army personnel came out and the man was taken to the air ambulance.
“There was quite a few people standing looking on. It looked really serious.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 11.50am on November 21 to attend an incident at Kirkhill Crescent, Prestwick.

“Two ambulances and our helimed were dispatched to the scene and one patient was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
