Man flips stolen car after trying to ram his way out of street...police got an unexpected bonus when they followed him into a house

Three people have been arrested after a getaway driver flipped a stolen car onto its roof during a police chase then tried to hide inside in a house.

Police spotted the suspected stolen vehicle in the Wythenshawe area on Sunday evening (December 29).

The driver of the white Citroen tried to escape from officers and attempted to 'ram his way out' of a street.

But the car - which had been allegedly stolen from Stockport - was flipped over onto its roof.

The male then ran off to a nearby address but officers followed, and inside they found him, a female and a wanted male hiding upstairs.

All three suspects were arrested for a variety of offences.

They include burglary, dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, handling stolen goods, possession of a bladed article, breach of bail, failing to appear, theft of a motor vehicle and assisting an offender.

The two males and the female remain in custody for questioning.

In a post on the GMP Wythenshawe Facebook page, police said: "An outstanding stolen vehicle from the Stockport area located last night by the #ProblemSolvingTeam.

"The driver decided he didn't want to stick around and attempted to ram his way out of the street resulting in him up turning the vehicle and it ending up on its roof!

"All arrested for various offences including Fail to Appear, Breach of Bail, Possession of a bladed article, Burglary, Dangerous Driving, Aggravated Vehicle taking, Disqualified Driving, Handling Stolen Goods, Assisting an Offender and Theft of Motor Vehicle.

"All three remain in custody for questioning."
