A “minor traffic violation” led to a police chase that ended in a crash Wednesday by Burnham Harbor on the Near South Side.
Officers tried to pull over a southbound 2015 Chevrolet Cruze about 1:50 a.m. after they noticed a “minor traffic violation” on Lake Shore Drive, Chicago police said.
Instead of stopping, the Chevrolet continued south on Lake Shore Drive and exited at 18th Street, where the driver lost control on the ramp and struck three light poles and a barrier, police said.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was stabilized, police said.
Charges are pending.
