A man who "upskirted" a woman at a London Tube station has been fined £2,000.

Hiroshi Yuasam, 38, was spotted crouching behind the victim holding his mobile phone at London Victoria station in April last year.

Police subsequently found several photographs and videos of women on his device, "ranging from pictures of the face as well as pictures up the skirts," according to court documents.

Yuasa, of Ebury Street, Victoria, was fined after admitting outraging public decency at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday.

According to the charge details, he was “observed crouched down behind a female passenger with his hand extended under her skirt taking a photograph with his mobile phone”.

Yuasa was also told to pay £400 compensation to his victim, a £170 victim surcharge and £400 prosecution costs.

Upskirting will become a specific criminal offence punishable by up to two years in prison when new legislation is introduced later this year.

It follows a campaign by Gina Martin, who was targeted at a music festival in 2017.

The legislation, which has existed in Scotland since 2010, received its third reading in the House of Lords last month and is now awaiting only the formality of royal assent.
