Man fined for firing catapult at neighbour's dogs

A man has been fined after being caught on CCTV firing a catapult at his neighbour’s two dogs.

In the video above, a man can be seen entering his neighbour’s garden before intentionally firing a catapult at two Jack Russell terriers, named Coco and Alfie.

Stephen Charles Hammond, 60, was fined £500 after pleading guilty to one animal welfare offence at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

RSPCA inspector Simon Evans said: “Luckily there were no injures to the dogs, but there was certainly intent here to injure even though there weren’t physically harmed.

“The footage is shocking to see someone just fire at these dogs with a catapult, who from the footage look understandably frightened.”

Magistrates fined Hammond £500 and he was ordered to pay £300 court costs as well as a £60 victim surcharge.
