A MAN who police allege spat in the fact of a hospital security worker last week amid the coronavirus pandemic has been slapped with a fine.
Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District were called to a Berkeley Vale property on Henry Parkes Drive about 11.30pm on April 9 after reports of a domestic-related incident.
Police were told a man had left the home and been involved in a crash on Laguna Avenue before he returned to the property.
A man, 25, was detained and taken to Wyong Hospital for assessment.
"While being treated, the man had to be restrained by police and security," police said in a statement.
"It is alleged the man spat in the face of a 56-year-old security officer."
The man received a $5000 fine on Friday for not complying with noticed direction in relation to spitting or coughing during COVID-19.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard introduced the penalty for coughing or spitting on frontline health workers earlier this month.
