Man fined £200 for playing Pokemon Go in lockdown

A man has been fined £200 after police found him playing Pokemon Go during lockdown.

The augmented reality game on your phone sends players hunting in the real world to find the location of characters,

Warwickshire Police said the man and his family travelled 14 miles playing the game on Tuesday evening.

Police tweeted: "Travelling from Bedworth to Kenilworth in the late evening to “Pokemon Hunt” is not essential. We will enforce blatant breaches of the lockdown and this is what happened this evening.

"A £200 fine has been issued. Please #StayHome. PC Jones."

The man was fined £200 for "contravening the requirement to not leave or be outside the place they live without a reasonable excuse", reports MEN.

"Everyone has a part to play in ensuring they slow the spread of the virus," a police spokeswoman told the BBC.

"We would like to remind people they must not leave or be outside their home unless they have a reasonable excuse."
