Man finds neighbour has been dead for a week after mystery 'black tar' drips down wall

A man who 'woke up to find some random black tar' dripping down from his ceiling was left horrified after a worker discovered the gruesome cause.

AJ McCrady filmed the substance which appeared overnight, showing thick streaks of liquid extending from a crack in the ceiling, running behind a shelving unit and reaching the floor.

The mystery marks were giving off a 'horrible smell' and, having previously heard leaking in their bathroom, AJ and his flatmate called for help to investigate the problem.

A maintenance worker said he had 'no idea what the hell it could be' and couldn't determine what had caused it even after wiping some off to be examined.

He headed upstairs to the flat directly above to see if they were experiencing similar problems, which is when AJ said a body was discovered.

In a series of tweets which racked up hundreds of thousands of likes, AJ wrote: "My apartment has smelt horrible recently and I just found out the guy living above me has been dead for over a week... and before you ask, his body was just discovered after his blood leaked down the ceiling into our apartment this morning.

"All I really know of the situation is the man upstairs died in his sleep. His body decomposed and somehow managed to seep into our apartment."

He also posted a photo of his neighbour's door in the block in Minnesota, which he said had been sealed off after the find.

Although most were shocked by the story, many others questioned whether it had all been set up to go viral.

However, Bring Me The News reported that Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder confirmed a body had been found. He said officers had investigated the scene and nothing appeared suspicious, adding the tragic case acted as a reminder to keep in contact with your neighbours and loved ones.

AJ also responded to the doubters himself, sarcastically writing: "I'm reading tweets about people saying my tweet is fake like yup!!! You cracked the code! I purposely destroyed my painted wall and shelves for clout on Twitter."
