Man fighting for life in hospital after two stabbings just 200 metres apart in Crumpsall

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after two people were stabbed just 200 metres apart in Crumpsall.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was attacked on Westbury Road at around 6.40am on Sunday.

No arrests have been made.

Just seven hours earlier, a man in his 40s was stabbed at a home on Lansdowne Road, just round the corner.

Police were called at 11.20pm on Saturday, June 1 to reports a man in his 40s had been stabbed.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in a stable condition.

Three men - aged 29, 39 and 43 - were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with that attack.

Police have now been given a 12-hour extension to quiz the trio, a GMP spokesman said.

The two incidents are not being treated as linked, the force said.

Lansdowne Road near the junction with Brookfield Road was cordoned off by police for several hours on Sunday.

Police were seen guarding a forensic tent outside a home on Westbury Road next to Crumpsall Park.

The gate to the park was shut and the road was cordoned off to traffic.
