Man fighting for life after being mown down by car in 'attempted murder'

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck by a car in what police are treating as an attempted murder.

The man, in his 30s, is in a critical condition, Essex Police said in a statement this afternoon.

The force were called at roughly midnight last night to reports of a pedestrian being hit by car in Harlow.

An ambulance rushed the man to hospital.

A burned out car found in Roydon is being linked to the investigation by detectives.

Essex Police were at the scene this morning investigating. No arrests have been made.

A statement from the force said: "Detectives have launched an attempted murder investigation following a road traffic collision in Harlow during the early hours of Friday 18 October.

"We were called around midnight with reports that a man was seriously injured on Potter Road after being struck by a car.

"The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition.

"We were later called around 12.40am with reports that a blue BMW 1 Series was on fire at a playing field near to High Street in Roydon.

"Officers believe the car is linked to the collision."
