Man fighting for his life in hospital after being mowed down by car on Scots street

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car on a Scots street.

Paramedics raced to the late-night incident, which happened on Falkirk Road in Bonnybridge, Falkirk, at 10.10pm on Saturday April 9.

A silver Hyundai Santa Fe had been travelling towards Larbert before it smashed into the 51-year-old pedestrian.

Emergency crews rushed him to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries.

Medics have since described his condition as critical.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The A803 Falkirk Road was closed for around eight and a half hours to allow police inquiries to be carried out.

Officers are asking anybody who may have dash-cam footage or anybody who may have witnessed the collision - which they are treating as serious - to come forward.

Constable Neil Mealey said: "A man has sustained serious injuries as a result of this crash and we are appealing for information to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"Enquiries are ongoing and we're appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who was in that area with a dash-cam fitted to their vehicle to contact us."

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3827 of Saturday, April 9, 2022.
