Man 'felt sick' after grim find in salt and pepper chicken meal

A man said he 'felt physically sick' after finding a chicken foot in his salt and pepper chicken meal.

The customer, who asked to remain anonymous, ordered from East Eat takeaway, in Colwyn Bay and explained how he knew something was wrong from the first bite he took.

Speaking to North Wales Live, the man said he was in "disbelief" when he saw an oddly shaped piece of fried chicken in his meal.

He said: "I honestly didn't even process it at first, I pulled out the first piece of chicken and took a bite.

"Following this I looked into the meal and noticed the oddly shaped piece, which made me put out what I had in my mouth in disbelief.

"As anyone would imagine seeing what I was holding on my hand really put me off the rest of my meal.

"I literally had to google chicken body parts to make sure I wasn’t telling myself it was what it wasn’t.

"But, then I knew and couldn’t continue eating the meal, I physically felt sick."

The customer said he contacted the takeaway and claims they hung up the phone on him after he complained.

He continued: "After around 15 minutes of getting my head around what I had actually being served, I called the takeaway back and explained to them what had happened.

"I took photos and offered to send them to them to prove myself but they were having none of it.

"After trying to explain to them what they had served me, they just went silent, laughed, and then seconds later the line went dead.”

The man said he would have "happily returned as a customer" if they'd taken his complaint seriously as he understands the takeaway don't pick the pieces of chicken themselves.

He said: "The customer service really didn’t help matters on their behalf and the whole situation has confirmed to me that I will never enter the takeaway again, let alone order from there.

"This has put me off chicken as a whole, knowing that I could have eaten that if I hadn't have noticed it.

"Chicken is no longer top of my choices of food, I would rather go without if I’m being honest and will always opt for something else if the choices are there for me."

The ECHO's sister paper North Wales Live contacted East Eat several times for a response and they have declined to comment.

The takeaway is currently awaiting a Food hygiene rating which is believed to have been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
