A 39-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday in Lawndale on the West Side.

About 9:10 p.m., Crevaul Smith was standing on the sidewalk in the 2900 block of West Harrison Street when shots were fired, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Smith was struck in the back and buttocks and taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. An autopsy Sunday found Smith died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Smith lived in Oakland on the South Side, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area North detectives are investigating the shooting.
