A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday night in Gresham, officials say
About 7:35 p.m., the man was near a sidewalk in the 7700 block of South Damen Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Chicago police said.
He was struck in the chest and transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he later died, police. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not yet identified him.
No one is in custody, according to police.
