Man fatally shot in Grand Crossing: police

A 42-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

About 4:10 a.m. he was in the backyard of a residence at a gathering in the 7000 block of South Harper Avenue, when someone walked up to him and shot him in the back, Chicago police said.

He was rushed to University of Chicago Hospital where he died, police said.

His name has not been released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Area One detectives are investigating.
