A man was fatally shot late Friday night in Dunning on the North West side.
About 11:50 p.m., a 42-year-old man went outside to smoke in the 6700 block of West Belmont Avenue when two males approached and began shooting at him, Chicago police said.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The suspects ran northbound on Normandy Avenue after the shooting, police said.
Area Five detectives are investigating.
