A man was killed during a “robbery gone bad” Friday outside a liquor store in south suburban Dolton.
Two people approached Jonathan Wilkins, 40, about 8 p.m. outside the store near 149th Street and Chicago Road and tried to rob him, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and Dolton trustee and community activist Andrew Holmes.
Wilkins was shot multiple times and taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Holmes said.
An autopsy conducted Sunday confirmed that Wilkins died of his wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. His death has been ruled a homicide.
Dolton police did not provide additional details.
