A 31-year-old man died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver Sunday on Interstate 290 near Pulaski Road.

Ryan Apple of Chicago was walking about 6:10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-290 at Pulaski Road when a Honda struck him, Illinois State police said. The Honda continued without stopping.

Apple was pronounced dead at 6:40 a.m., and an autopsy found he died of multiple injuries from collision, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident.

State police said they identified the driver of the Honda that left the scene, but said no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
