Man 'falls from upper floor' into Royal Liverpool hospital reception

A man is receiving treatment after a serious fall at the Royal Liverpool Hospital .

Witnesses described seeing a dramatic emergency support effort after the man fell into the hospital's main reception area.

He reportedly fell from an upper floor into the foyer on Saturday afternoon.

The incident sparked concerns for the man's condition, with onlookers claiming medics placed screens around him as they examined his injuries.

Kerry Collinson was visiting the Royal to see her dad who is about to have an operation on her pancreas.

The 48-year-old, from Connah's Quay, told the ECHO: "At around 1.45pm, on Saturday, we walked into the foyer of the hospital and heard an awful sound and shouts.

"We froze and looked around and people were running past us outside away from the hospital looking horrified and panicking... People were standing around in shock."

A Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust spokesperson said: "A patient is being treated for injuries sustained in an incident that occurred in the reception of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital on 28 September."

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
