Man falls from scaffolding in Glasgow city centre on St Vincent Lane

A man has fallen from scaffolding in Glasgow prompting the closure of a major city centre street.

Emergency services were called to St Vincent Lane earlier this morning and remain at the scene.

Wellington Street has been closed as a result.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic and Control Management Team (TRAFFCOM) confirmed at 8.35am this morning the street has been closed between St Vincent Street and Bothwell Street.

They advised: "Due to an on-going incident, Wellington Street has been closed between St Vincent Street and Bothwell Street."

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "Around 7.45am on Tuesday, 26 October, officers were called to a report of a man fallen from scaffolding in St Vincent Lane in Glasgow City Centre.

"Emergency services are at the scene at this time."

Glasgow Live have contacted the Scottish Ambulance Service for further comment.

UPDATE: Glasgow City Council have confirmed Wellington Street is now open.
