Man falls from bridge at Edinburgh Waverley as rail bosses switch power off

A man fell from a bridge at a Scots train station as emergency services raced to the scene last night.

Late night services were disrupted from Edinburgh' s busy Waverley station after the incident was reported around 11.15pm.

Police were called to the scene amid concern for a person and it is understood he fell from a bridge.

He was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with what is understood to be non-life threatening injuries.

Due to the incident ScotRail bosses had to turn off the overhead power at the station, and all services were cancelled.

Tweets from ScotRail last night read: "Due to the police dealing with an incident at Edinburgh Waverley all lines are currently disrupted. I'll update you all as soon as I can."

A second read: "The incident is still ongoing at the moment, I'm afraid and we've had to turn the overhead power off. As soon as I have an update I'll update you all."

British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
