A man is recovering in hospital after reportedly falling 50 meters in the Springbrook National Park this morning.

Rescue crews were called to Numinbah Valley just before 10am to reports a hiker aged in his 70s had fallen down a cliff.

After a six-hour rescue operation, he was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with minor limb injuries.

Tamborine Mountain Ambulance Service officer-in-charge Sean Breeden said two paramedics were winched down to the man just before 2pm.

Rescue helicopters were called in to help locate the man and multiple emergency crews were deployed to try to reach him.

Mr Breeden said the man is in a stable condition with limb injuries after taking "quite an extensive" fall.
