A 34-year-old man is facing up to a year in prison after allegedly attempting to film a naked Irish tourist in a shower at a French campsite.
Local media reports that the man, who is living in the north of France, was camping with his wife and two young children in the Mediterranean town of Fréjus.
The man allegedly put his smartphone under the shower door in the communal bathroom in an attempt to film the tourist.
The Irishwoman, 34, saw the phone and began screaming before calling a family member.
The dad-of-two was reportedly chased by the family member, before being arrested by police.
He was brought before a court in the southern French town of Draguignan under the new "up-skirting" law introduced in the country last year.
Under the law, if convicted he faces a year in jail and a €15,000 fine.
