Man faces prison after pleading guilty to murdering another man outside fish and chip shop

A man is to be sentenced after confessing to the murder of another man outside a fish and chip shop.

Christopher Hardman, 46, died weeks after suffering serious injuries in an assault outside a fish and chip shop in Winchester Way, Breightmet, on July 13.

Christopher Walton, of Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, had previously denied murdering Mr Hardman.

However, he appeared before Manchester Crown Court yesterday (Thursday, December 17), where he changed his plea to a guilty one.

The 24-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at the same court on January 20.

In August, Bolton Crown Court heard that Mr Hardman's death arose from an argument in which Walton allegedly demanded money from him.

Police were called to the incident at about 10.20pm on July 13.

Witnesses described seeing up to 10 police vehicles at the scene.

Mr Hamilton, 46, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, but later died from his injuries.
