A man has faced court over an alleged double-murder in Melbourne more than 30 years ago.

Glen William Nash, 58, on Thursday appeared by audio-visual link in Melbourne Magistrates Court charged with the murder of siblings Doris McCartney and Ronald Swann in October 1989.

Ms McCartney, 71, and Mr Swann, 69, were found dead at the Moorabbin home they shared.

Nash was arrested in April after police offered a $1 million reward to help solve the case.

His lawyer Emma Turnbull said the matter was facing "complications" and needed to be adjourned for one month.

Nash was remanded in custody until his case returns to court on August 18.
