Man faces court after woman run down and killed outside home

Gayle Potter was hit by a car on her property at Traralgon.

A man charged with the murder of his former partner, who was hit by a vehicle on her property, has sobbed as members of his family arrived for his court appearance.

Glenn Graeme Martyn, 53, is accused of killing Gayle Potter, 46, in Traralgon, in Victoria's east.

Mr Martyn was arrested at a nearby property soon after the woman was killed on Tuesday night.

He was remanded in custody after appearing in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court.

He sat quietly until a dozen of his supporters filed into the court.

Among them was his sister, who was wearing a white ribbon badge, and his adult son, Josh Martyn.

Mr Martyn became upset again when Magistrate Simon Garnett granted an interim intervention order restricting him from seeing his other children.

Outside the court, Josh Martyn spoke on behalf of his family.

"I'm just here to support my old man and say that we love him and that his family's behind him through this whole process," he said.

Mr Martyn is due back in court for a committal mention in February.
