Man charged with murder over body found in buried freezer

Home of missing Goodna man David Thornton, April 2019.

A man has appeared briefly in court charged with murdering Ipswich man David Thornton, whose remains were found in a freezer buried in his backyard.

Bobby Andrew Weaver, 24, also from Ipswich, was arrested in Byron Bay on Tuesday and extradited on Wednesday morning to face charges, including murder and interfering with a corpse.

He was remanded in custody until April 17.

Mr Thornton, 58, had been missing for more than a month when his remains were discovered on his property earlier this week.

Divers also spent Wednesday morning searching a creek on the property.
