A man has been extradited from Albania and charged with killing a builder in London’s diamond district.

Elton Sefa, 22, was set to appear in court today over the murder of John Woodward, 47, who died while working on the roof of the Presman Mastermelt building in Hatton Garden on April 17, 2018.

Initial reports indicated that Mr Woodward had died after falling from height.

But a post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

Sefa was arrested in February in the city of Durres and brought to the UK yesterday, when he was charged with murder. He was due to appear before Westminster magistrates this morning.

Mr Woodward’s family have been informed of the developments.
