Man escapes after car flips onto roof on Gelderd Road

A Mercedes driver escaped with minor injuries after his car flipped onto its roof near Leeds.

The car collided with a Volvo and then overturned on Gelderd Road in Birstall at around 6.30pm on Thursday, February 27.

Police officers and paramedics were called to the scene of the collision and they found the vehicle resting on its roof.

The crash caused delays on Gelderd Road between Nab Lane, Birstall, and the roundabout for the Junction 27 Retail Park and Showcase Cinema.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "On attendance, officers ascertained that two vehicles had collided – the Mercedes and a Volvo.

"The man driving the Mercedes sustained slight injuries.

"Police arranged for the vehicle to be recovered."

Part of the busy road was closed for several hours but it was reopened after the Mercedes was recovered.
