Man ends up with £700 worth of drinks thanks to Wetherspoon app game

We all remember the days of having to leave the comfort of our table, fight our way to the front of the bar and try helplessly to make eye contact with the usually busy bar staff in the hopes of getting served.

Well, thanks to the Wetherspoon app all that stress and worry is a thing of the past with customers able to order a burger and fries, gin and tonic and a round of shots without having to leave their seat.

There is also a chance with the app of getting a free drink, maybe even a side of onion rings, with the 'Wetherspoon game'.

It's where you give out your table number and see what freebies people will send you.

Well one man recently popped into his local 'Spoons for a cheeky mid-morning pint and ended up being inundated with more drinks that he ever could have imagined from the app, reports the MEN and The Mirror.

Posting on Twitter , Karl Phillips, also known as 'The Captain', documented his very bizarre trip to the pub on January 11.

It all started at 10:40am on Saturday, when he revealed he'd enjoyed a bit of shopping before stopping off to grab a pint of Doom Bar at The Gold Cape in Mold.

Shortly after he posted this, someone tweeted to ask which table Karl was sat at.

He answered "54", but little did he know, that after sending that tweet, the drinks orders would soon start pouring in.

Shocked by the sudden turn of events, he shared a picture on Twitter of all the drinks that had been sent to his table so far.

Karl later added that by the time he was ready to leave the pub, Wetherspoon had taken over £700 worth of orders for him.

As he obviously wasn't ever going to be able to consume that much alcohol in one trip, the pub chain kindly said they would look into donating the profits to charity for him instead.

It's safe to say Karl definitely won the game.
