BENGALURU: A contract employee of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation died by suicide after consuming poison in a hotel room in Majestic area on Thursday over blackmail related to sex videos.
Supreeth K, 32, a junior assistant with Cescom, Arasikere, Hassan district and from Shivamogga, named four minor boys in his suicide note and accused them of blackmailing him. The four were arrested on Friday.
Police said Supreeth booked a room at Nataraj Comforts in Gandhinagar at 1pm. Hotel staff noticed water coming out from his second-floor room in the evening. As Supreeth did not respond to knocks, staff opened the door using a duplicate key and found him dead inside the washroom.
Upparpet police found a suicide note in the room, which explained why he had taken the extreme step.
Police said Supreeth might have gone to the washroom after consuming poison, fallen unconscious and died before turning off the tap.
Supreeth mentioned the names of four minors, who allegedly blackmailed him for money by threatening to leak sex videos with his girlfriend.
Supreeth had gone to Dulai Malleshwara Betta in Arsikere to spend time with his girlfriend. The juveniles staying in sheds near the hill saw the two in a compromising position and recorded it on their mobile phones, police said.
The boys allegedly extorted Rs 4,000-Rs 5,000 from Supreeth and threatened to upload or leak the videos if he didn’t pay more. Depressed, Supreeth ended his life, a police officer said. Upparpet cops arrested all four juveniles on charges of abetment to suicide. They confessed to blackmailing Supreeth.
