SONGKHLA: A construction contractor plunged to his death from the roof of a two-storey house in Hat Yai district after he was electrocuted on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred while Pornprasert Chatree, 69, was fixing the roof of the house on Ratana-Uthit road by replacing roof tiles with six metal sheets.

When putting the 6th metal sheet in place, he was electrocuted after the edge of the sheet touched a bare high-voltage power line.

Pornprasert plunged from the rooftop and landed on the cement floor below. He was knocked unconscious and bled profusely from the face.

Members of a Hat Yai emergency rescue unit arrived at the scene shortly afterwards. They tried to save his life, but were not successful.
