Man electrocuted near Hillington East station in Glasgow

A man was electrocuted near a Glasgow  train station.

He was rushed to hospital following the incident close to Hillington East yesterday afternoon.

British Transport Police say the man in his 40s was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A statement issued this morning explained "He sustained injures consistent with electrocution, thankfully these are not believed to be life threatening.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."

The drama unfolded when emergency services were called ot the area shortly after 2pm.

Train services were significantly disrupted for a while on the Gourock, Wemyss Bay, Largs, Ardrossan and Ayr lines.

And services running between Paisley and Glasgow were unable to call at Cardonald, Hillington East or Hillington West until normal service was resumed later in the afternoon.
