Man due to appear in court after allegedly threatening police with a knife in Ravenshead

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening police with a knife in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mark Stephenson of no fixed address, has been charged with threats to kill and affray, following the incident in Ravenshead on Saturday, March 23.

The 49-year-old has been remanded into custody and is to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday, March 25.

The charge follows the arrest at Priory Avenue in Ravenshead at around 1.30am on Saturday.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police at the time of the incident, said: "Officers were called to Priory Avenue in Ravenshead on Saturday, March 23, at around 1.30am following reports of an incident.

"A 49-year-old man was arrested for being in possession with a knife.

"No one was injured in the incident.

"Patrols have been increased in the area, however it is believed to be an isolated incident.

"Officers are also conducting CCTV and house-to-house enquiries and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage in the area between 1am and 2am today, to call 101, quoting incident 70 of 23 March 2019."
