A man is due to appear in court in connection with the serious sexual assault of a woman in Clydebank.
The 21-year-old was arrested and charged by police following the horror attack in the early hours of August 1.
A 23-year-old woman was attacked in a lane off Alexander Street between 1.15am and 1.45am on Saturday.
Police appealed for witnesses after initially arresting the man in connection with the attack.
They stressed that it was an “isolated incident” but that they were keen to speak with a couple who were in the area around the time of the incident.
Police Scotland confirmed on Tuesday that a man had now been charged.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with a serious sexual assault in Clydebank on a 23-year old woman in the early hours of Saturday, 1 August, in a lane off Alexander Street in the town.
“He is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 4 August, 2020.”
