Man drunkenly threw meat cleaver at ex-partner's home

A Bradley Stoke man has avoided jail after lobbing a meat cleaver at his former partner's home while drunk.

Mark Kirk, of Shepherds Walk, carried the blade in a public place, Dewfalls Drive, on July 14.

The 54-year-old admitted the offence at Bristol Magistrates' Court on August 6.

He went to his ex-partner's address with a meat cleaver while intoxicated and threw it at the home.

The magistrates imposed a 12-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, as well as a 10-day rehab requirement.

He must also pay a victim surcharge of £122 and prosecution costs of £85.
